Does Heaven Really Exist?

I will attempt to explain in rational human terms the wonderful, miraculous event where our souls transcend to a place more beautiful, more loving, more magical than we can even begin to imagine. I will completely understand if it is more than you can accept or comprehend at this moment. We all know that we can’t answer this question with hard facts and a plethora of evidence because we really won’t know until it is our time to make that journey.

Why do I think I know the answer to this question? Well, I don’t....not completely. It is complicated but I will do my best to explain what I have come to understand thus far.  No I don’t have all the answers! There is so much that I don’t understand but there are some things that seem to be consistent when it comes to death. While at St Paul’s Cathedral, Henry Scott Holland delivered a sermon in May 1910 following the death of King Edward VII, titled Death the King of Terrors, in which he explores the natural but seemingly contradictory responses to death: the fear of the unexplained and the belief in continuity. I think the poem “Death Is Nothing At All” written by Holland describes death best.

Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away to the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
That, we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way
which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect.
Without the trace of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that it ever was.
There is absolute unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?

I am but waiting for you.
For an interval.
Somewhere. Very near.
Just around the corner.

All is well.

Nothing is past; nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before only better, infinitely happier and forever we will all be one together with Christ.

Through my experiences helping others understand and accept death, I have been given an opportunity to “hear” about where others have gone. Through my experiences and education on Spirituality, Religion and Death I have a better understanding and acceptance of my destiny. I haven't always believe what I believe now. I never would have come this far if not for the connection to the other side and the information I have received as a result. I have come to accept that we can “hear” our passed loved ones with our Spiritual ears and “see” them with our Spiritual eyes. I believe they become Guardian Angels helping to guide us along the path that God has laid out for us.

Thanking God and giving him credit for the good things that happen in our lives seems to be easy for us. We just assume it is God and don’t stop to think “Hmmmm, I wonder if my Dad helped me through that?”. Please understand that I am not suggesting that we stop praising God and thanking him because having my Grandma, and other loved ones, with me in Spirit is all because of the grace of God and the work of the Holy Spirit. So absolutely give God thanks and praise. I just happen to know that He has helpers that we should also be grateful for.

I have written about many of my experiences connecting to people who are no longer physically on earth, including my own family members. Go to “Messages From Heaven” or “Heavenly Help” to learn more. It is through these readings and connections that I have gained some understanding and insight into the world of Spirit. The simple fact that I connected to the deceased loved ones of complete strangers is evidence that our soul exists beyond death. My first real experience with a soul was when we met "Sonny Spielman" but it was the hundreds of readings that I have done since then that convinced me beyond a shadow of a doubt that we are surrounded by the energy of souls, both positive and negative.

Through these connections I have learned many things. Here is what Spirit has taught me about our life after death. At some point during the death of our physical bodies, our consciousness (by whatever name you want to call it) leaves our body. The timing is different depending on the circumstances. Some leave before the physical harm is done so they do not experience any pain. Those that experienced a painful passing say the pain didn’t last long and had no lasting effects on them. The actual path we take to the other side can also vary depending on the circumstances and your beliefs.

In other words, if you believe in a Heaven and Hell and believe you belong in hell for all the sins you committed than you will go to your own personal hell. The transition is what you make it, just like your life is what you make it. We cannot take our wealth or personal belongings with us but we do get to bring our unlearned lessons. I have been told that it is much easier to learn those lessons while we can on Earth because here we have other humans to help us through and understands things. If we take those lessons with us into the afterlife, we must learn the lessons on our own.

It is difficult to explain in human terms but they say the afterlife is made up of thoughts and that those thoughts determine where they are. In order to cross over into the light and love of Heaven, one must relinquish every negative thought and all ties to their earthly life that they have. That means no more blaming others for what happened in life, no more denying that Heaven exists and is our ultimate destiny, and no more denying that a greater power than us exists that loves us in way we have never experienced on earth. We must realize that the more we think we know the less we really understand.

When one is ready to let go of the things that connected them to this life, they realize that it is their choice to stay stuck or let go. That is not all it takes however. Remember free will? You have the right to be lost and stuck for as long you want, both in this life and in the afterlife. Wanting to be found is the first step but one needs to ask for Jesus to be their savior before he can help you. Not because he wants to control you and everything you do! In fact there is nothing negative about why one has to ask for Jesus to save them. It is simply out of respect for our free will. Free will is our God given ability to act at one's own discretion.

“Lord,” said Thomas, “we do not know where You are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus answered, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

God, or Jesus, cannot intervene until we ask them to. A soul must ask for Jesus to help them cross the threshold into Heaven. Often times a soul is also met with a loved one that they felt a strong connection to in life. My grandfather met my grandmother when it was her time and they are together again, at peace in Heaven. My grandmother was afraid to die and she held on suffering far longer than she needed to. My grandfather made sure he was there for her when she finally let go but it was through her accepting and asking for Jesus and my grandfather that finally allowed her to walk up the stairway to Heaven. Although our decision to stay or go is profoundly ours to make, once we make it we are surrounded by our loved ones. We don’t have to ascend alone.

“In my Father’s house are many rooms; if not, I would have told you. I am going away to prepare a place for you.  If I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to myself, so that where I am you may be also.” ~ John 14:2-3

They describe a place where negative thoughts no longer exist. Apparently frustration is a Godly trait because it is something they can still experience. Time no longer exists for them so they can become frustrated with our slower learning rates. They describe a place of levels, where souls keep learning. They describe it as if everyone has their own piece of Heaven or "room" where they are surrounded with things they love. They can still see and hear their loved ones that are still living. They can travel faster than the speed of light, allowing them to be worlds away then right by our side in the blink of an eye. They can whisper thoughts into existence, guiding us and bringing people together at just the right time and place.

There are a few things they all seem to have in common.

They want us to know that they are okay and at peace. They want us to know that whatever ailed them in life is gone and all that remains is love, happiness, joy and peace.

They want us to know that they can hear us. They hear you asking and want so badly for you to hear their answers.

  • They want us to be happy! They don’t want us to mourn because they are not gone.
  • They want us to rejoice and celebrate them making it to Heaven.
  • They want us to live full and happy lives knowing that when the time is just right, we will be together again.

“Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of a shadow on it.”

Most of all they want us to live in love, peace, happiness and prosperity. They want our thoughts of them to make us laugh and smile, not bring us pain and sadness. The last thing they want to do is cause us, or any soul, pain and suffering. As long as our thoughts about our passed loved ones bring us pain, they will keep their distance to give us time to heal. When they are physically close to us, we think about them. It is normal and healthy to mourn when we lose someone we love but in time our pain subsides and we can feel happiness again. After the mourning, they return to our sides knowing that the thoughts they bring to us now make us feel joy. They will send us signs to let us know they are still here, just in the other room for a bit.

The next time you hear a song or a joke, see a TV show, or a random thought comes from nowhere that makes you remember someone special, know that is their soft touch reaching out to let you know they are still there. Know that you are very loved and very blessed to have Guardian Angels watching over you. Know that you are never alone as you travel your path.
